Little Princesses’ Tea Party
You may remember the preview post for this shoot back in December. I’d hoped to get this up sooner, but Christmas took over! So here it is, and a selection of my favourite images from the shoot to go with it! I had so much fun photographing these two gorgeous girls. They made me laugh and smile so much as we watched them play!
The set took a little while to put together, and I started sourcing props a few weeks before we were due to shoot. I found lots of pretty little cups and saucers, and even a cute little teapot. You can see the work that went into creating the set in the time-lapse video I made below. I loved having the opportunity to make another den as the last time I made one I was still a kid! I got a bit of help putting it together from my Mum, the den-building queen. She helped me to make loads of dens when I was little, and even sewed me a den that went over my swing set when I was a toddler. So, she’s far more experienced at den building than I am at present!
The girls arrived with Mum and Dad and were over the moon with the set that was waiting for them!
They couldn’t wait to get stuck in to the whole thing, stopping first of all to put on their crowns before having a great time playing with the mismatched bone china tea set and all the teddies and balloons that were scattered around. The cakes, kindly provided by Bluebell Cake House, had made the room smell gorgeously sweet and at first I think the girls were thinking they looked too pretty to eat!
It’s not hard to see why, they’re such beautiful cakes. I chose the Classic and Vintage Couture styles as I decided that would suit the shoot best of all. Bluebell Cake House do many other styles and even custom orders, so be sure to check them out here and tell them I sent you! They have a Facebook page too, so if you’re on there check that out.
Once we assured the girls that the cakes were for eating and not just decoration, they got stuck in!
I’m told they taste as good as they look, and they look amazing! I was too busy taking gorgeous photos of the girls to stop and have a taste myself :P
And so concludes today’s post! Let me know your thoughts and feelings in the comments section as I’d love to hear them. The next post will be all about props I’ve been making for future shoots, so keep your eyes peeled for it!
